Project Overview: Interactive Learning Experience

This project involved designing and delivering a highly interactive Instructor-Led Training (ILT) program.

The goal was to provide participants with practical skills through hands-on exercises and collaborative problem-solving, maximizing engagement and knowledge retention.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the training, learners are able to:

  • Define key health insurance terminology
  • Differentiate major health insurance plan types
  • Explain Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D
  • Apply insurance concepts to billing and coding scenarios
  • Identify healthcare insurance best practices

Instructional Design Approach

Adult Learning Strategies

This ILT was designed using adult learning principles by:

  • Connecting concepts to real-world healthcare experiences
  • Encouraging learner discussion and collaboration
  • Using teach-back activities to reinforce retention
  • Incorporating scenario-based learning
  • Applying practical healthcare examples throughout the course

Key Features of the Training

Interactive Group Activities

Learners participated in breakout group research activities focused on:

  • Types of health insurance plans
  • Medicare coverage components

Scenario-Based Learning

The course included a real-world Medicare case study featuring “Sarah,” a Medicare beneficiary scheduled for outpatient surgery. Learners applied insurance knowledge to determine appropriate Medicare coverage and reimbursement implications.

Visual Learning Elements

Custom healthcare-themed infographics and comparison visuals were created to simplify complex insurance concepts, including:

  • Insurance terminology
  • Types of insurance plans
  • Medicare breakdowns
  • Best practices for billing and coding

Knowledge Checks

Animated knowledge checks were integrated throughout the course to reinforce understanding and learner engagement.

Outcome

This training provides learners with foundational healthcare insurance knowledge that supports:

  • Accurate coding and billing practices
  • Insurance verification processes
  • Reimbursement understanding
  • Revenue cycle awareness
  • Improved healthcare compliance knowledge

The project demonstrates my ability to create engaging, learner-centered healthcare training solutions that combine instructional strategy, facilitation support, and visual learning design.
